An introduction to GetSmart Token digital badges and their features.

Introduction to GetSmart Token

Welcome to the GetSmart Token platform! This guide provides an overview of how to use GetSmart to create, issue, apply for, and receive verifiable achievement badges backed by GETS tokens on the Polygon blockchain.

What is GetSmart Token?

GetSmart allows individuals and organizations (“Sponsors”) to create digital badges (NFTs) representing various achievements, from formal education milestones to informal learning and community contributions. These badges are secured on the blockchain, providing a permanent and verifiable record. Earners can receive these badges along with GETS tokens, which can be held, exchanged, or staked.

The platform aims to support education, recognize diverse forms of learning, and contribute to a regenerative economy for growth.

How it Works (The 4 Steps)

The core process involves four main steps:

  1. Sponsor Creates: A Sponsor designs a badge, defining its purpose, criteria, evidence requirements, and the number of GETS tokens attached.
  2. Earner Applies: An Earner finds a badge they qualify for (either publicly listed or via a private link) and submits an application with the required evidence.
  3. Sponsor Approves/Dismisses: The Sponsor reviews applications and approves or dismisses them based on the defined criteria.
  4. Earner Claims: Once approved, the Earner must claim their badge and associated tokens within 90 days to finalize the process and receive the assets in their wallet.

Getting Started: MetaMask Wallet

To interact with the GetSmart platform, both Sponsors and Earners need an Ethereum/Polygon compatible crypto wallet, such as MetaMask.

  • Setup: Follow the instructions at https://getstoken.org/what-is-metamask-free-and-easy-to-use-crypto-wallet/ to set up your wallet.
  • Polygon Network: Ensure your MetaMask wallet is connected to the Polygon network. Instructions for adding the network are available in the full manual or on polygonscan.com.
  • Multiple Accounts: MetaMask allows creating multiple accounts within one wallet, useful for managing badges for different individuals (e.g., minors).

For Sponsors

As a Sponsor, you can:

  • Define Badges: Create badges for any achievement, specifying title, description, award criteria, and required evidence (e.g., links to documents, certificates).
  • Customize: Use custom images or media (requires holding 10+ GETS tokens).
  • Set Tokenomics: Decide the number of badges to issue, the number of GETS tokens per badge (at least 1 GETS per badge is required for creation), and an application expiry date.
  • Publish: Make badges public for anyone to apply or private via a shareable link.
  • Manage Applications: Review submitted applications and approve or reject them through your dashboard.
  • Fund: Acquire GETS tokens by swapping MATIC on the platform.

For Earners

As an Earner, you can:

  • Create Profile: Set up your profile on the GetSmart platform and connect your MetaMask wallet.
  • Explore & Apply: Search for publicly available badges or use private links provided by Sponsors. Submit applications detailing why you qualify and providing the necessary evidence.
  • Claim Awards: Once your application is approved, claim your badge and GETS tokens via your dashboard within 90 days.
  • Manage Badges: View your earned badges (NFTs) on your dashboard. Download badge images (PNG) to share on social media, email, etc.
  • Verify: Anyone can verify the authenticity of your badge using the embedded QR code or GETS code.
  • Use Tokens: Hold, exchange (GETS -> MATIC -> Fiat), or stake your GETS tokens, potentially contributing to the “Student Freedom Award” pool.
